“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
It is hard to believe that it has been over two weeks since I last sat down to update everyone. Time is a little like a vacuum, but in this case there is no bag to catch it in.
Last week, on Thursday the 3rd, Suzanne left for the coast for two weeks to completely relax and de-stress. It was all fine to make the plans and it seemed like a really good idea until I saw her packed suitcase sitting on the floor. That was when it hit me that she was actually going to be gone for two weeks! I felt like hitting the panic button, and stopping all the flights, but in the end she drove away with the van full of her needed supplies and blenders and pills, and left us all alone…..
I know it is good for her, and it sounds like she is having a nice time. She is getting some nice weather to go on long walks, and during the day it is so peaceful to watch the ocean without any other distractions. 😦
We have had some encouraging news through it all. Suzanne has had two blood tests to monitor the cancer in her blood, and the second test came back with the numbers going down slightly. That was good news! The other time was when we met with a new surgeon to have a consultation. The surgeon did an examination for the first time, and compared with the results on the computer from the MRI, she said that the lymph node area was definitely smaller than what the MRI showed. “Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6
Right now we want to continue on the path of Suzanne’s diet and supplements, and wait on the Lord for wisdom. As we hear of more and more people praying for Suzanne, we know that God has a plan through all of this that is so much bigger than what we can imagine. What if there is one person that knows or has heard of Suzanne, but doesn’t know Jesus? Jesus is our hope in this world. We have heard from many people who have either gone through something like this, or are going through health issues right now. One of our client’s, Bob, just found out that he has Bone Marrow Cancer. So now we are praying for Bob, as well.
Again, I would like to say that we enjoy the many expressions of communication that so many of you have towards us. We look forward to reading the comments here on the blog, getting the emails, getting the cards and letters, and also the phone calls. We so much look forward to these! We hope to in the future to respond to each one. Many have asked us if they can share the blog and ask for prayer in their prayer groups. By all means! We have found out how big of a family there is out there! Many thanks to all!
(also, pray for us that we can survive for another week with Suzanne gone) 🙂
Love,
Mel and family

“He will not let your foot be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.” Psalm 121:3
“That hand unseen shall hold you still,
And lead you to His holy hill.” C.H. Spurgeon
From the Rogers in Ecuador–we pray for you Suzanne–and for you Melvin. The great, tall Hcjb tower next to our building reminds me how far the radio waves travel and how much further the prayers of the believers. May they reach the heart of the Lord as we ask for His perfect will for you ,our loved one. Aunt Nel
I am a friend of Kathy’s and she asked me to pray when you first got the news. I have been praying, and shared with my prayer partner who also reads your posts and is praying. Glad to hear you are trying diet and rest along with modern medicine.
So happy to hear these encouraging reports. We continue to pray daily for your sweet family. Looking forward to our journey North to see you soon!
We love you,
Dwight and Pat
We are so happy and thankful for how our Lord Jesus is helping you in your decisions that you have had to make. How good is the God we adore!!!!!
I have had aggressive Melanoma cancer for a year and have had three operations. We have had to make decisions but it’s so wonderful to have a caring loving Saviour that guides us. There have been so many praying for us and there is real power in prayer. We have been praying for you too Mel & the family. This has been my verse. The Lord is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think. We know you will keep trusting Him as well as us too. What will it be to dwell above with & like Him.
Christian love,
Bob & Margo
WE keep bearing you all up.
This is a fiery furnace trial, no doubt about it, but the Lord is able to keep us in the peace that passeth understanding even there. I know you have been through it before Mel, but this is even harder, I know. May the Lord give grace to trust Him and make the way clear before you. My christian love and prayers to your family.

The prayers are reaching around our little speck of a planet in the big, big universe and He hears every one!
Mel, Suzanne and Family,
That verse is the same one God gave me recently and we know that God is so faithful and will always do what is truly best for each of us. (He just has to keep reminding us of that and giving us His boundless peace.) You are all in our prayers as often as you come to mind – which is OFTEN! We love you dearly!
Susan Arndt
You are both in our prayers as well as your children. May He give you His peace and loving guidance through this difficult trial.
Our love in Him,
Jerry and Anita
Praying the next medical report will also be clinically encouraging. “Our help/hope is in the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
